Subway is a popular fast food restaurant that sells all kinds of sandwiches in over 100 countries. It was started by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965, with the first location being in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The company has become an icon for healthy eating ever since it began providing healthy alternatives to the daily lunch meal.

Step 1 – Take a bowl to add all the ingredients

Subway sandwiches are pretty much all the same, except for the name. The variation is coming from the toppings, which can vary wildly. But the ingredients themselves are relatively similar, so they’ll work well in a veggie sub.

The main ingredients of a veggie sub (not including bread):

  • Toasted bread
  • Vegetable oil
  • Chopped lettuce
  • Chopped tomato
  • Lettuce and tomato slices can be cut into strips or wedges for variety.
  • Pepperoncini or pickled jalapeños can be used as desired.

Step 2- Add All the Ingredients into a Bowl

In a bowl, add all the ingredients (except cheese) and mix nicely. Now take half of the bread loaf and apply butter onto it. Place lettuce leaves on it followed by carrot slices. Then spread the prepared mixture over it. Place some chopped cucumber, onion slices, tomato slices and capsicum slices over it. Sprinkle some pepper powder over it. Top with a slice of cheese. Cover with another layer of bread. Cut into medium pieces using a sharp knife and serve immediately.

You can prepare this sandwich using the bread of your choice or any other vegetable or meat that you like in your sandwich.

Step 3- Make Dough for the bread

You can’t be a dedicated eater of Subway and have a healthy lifestyle. You have to make your own bread, and the first step to doing that is getting the right equipment.

You can purchase a bread machine or knead the dough by hand. The bread machine will save you time, and it takes all the work out of kneading. But if you decide to buy the tool and try it yourself, keep in mind that it’s not difficult.

Kitchen scale – A good kitchen scale will help you measure out your ingredients. It also has a tare function which allows you to weigh down items in the container, such as flour or yeast.

A bowl scraper – This is great for removing excess flour from your work area when you’re done with a batch of dough. It’s also useful if you’ve got an electric mixer with a paddle attachment, which allows you to scrape excess flour off the sides of the bowl while kneading.

A plastic bowl – A plastic bowl with a lid is great for storing your dough until it’s ready to be used (see instructions below). The lid prevents any moisture from escaping while the dough sits inside, making it ideal for outdoor use during warm

Step 4- Leave the dough for an hour so that it rise up well

Many people make the mistake of putting on bread without folding it, so that it makes a half loaf. This will not work at all. To make a sandwich, you need to fold the bread that goes over other ingredients up so that you have an even sandwich thickness.

Here is how you can make your own bread at home:

It’s important to mix the flour, yeast and water together for about five minutes before adding the salt and oil. After you’ve mixed everything up, leave it for an hour so that it rise up well enough to be used later. Once everything is ready, put it in a big bowl, knead with your hands for about ten minutes and then let it rise again.

Once the dough has risen again, this time you need to punch down twice and leave it again for another hour. After two hours rest, divide the dough into two pieces and roll them into balls. Take one piece of dough and roll it out into a long rectangle. Put one teaspoon of herbs and onion on one side and another teaspoon of sauce on the other side. Then roll up the bread with your hand like a jelly roll or like a burrito (the length should be similar to how thick you want your bread). If you would like to add some

Step 5- Knead the dough again before rolling it out into a thin crust

Vegans and vegetarians are slowly but surely becoming more and more accepted in mainstream society. But one group is still often left out of the conversation: people who live in urban areas, where they don’t have a convenient source of fresh vegetables to make sandwiches.

A quick look at any supermarket produce section reveals that a lot of fresh vegetables are not readily available. So how can a vegan or vegetarian get a delicious sandwich every day?

First off, you’re going to need some bread. If you want to be vegan (or vegetarian), it’s important to look for breads that don’t contain eggs. That means there isn’t much choice when it comes to breads. Recently I’ve been impressed by the quality of frozen yeast rolls at Trader Joe’s, but I’ve also found good results in store-bought gluten-free stuff. One thing you definitely should not do is buy pre-made crusty bread from a bakery — no matter how tempting the smell of flour and yeast might be.

You’ll also need some lettuce and tomato slices, as well as some beans or other veggies if you want something with protein (e.g., hummus or avocado).

Many vegans and vegetarians avoid cheese because of concerns about animal cruelty and hormones

Step 6- Now Place the rolled bread on a tawa and cook till crisp on both sides

If you’re trying to make something fast and delicious, you want to make sure the ingredients you use are top quality. When it comes to sandwich-making, fresh bread is a must. There’s nothing worse than dry, stale bread that’s falling apart from the inside — or worse still, a soggy mess.

If you’re in a rush, grab some bakery products at your supermarket — they taste great and are easy to prepare. But if you have the time and inclination, making your own fresh bread is easier than you think.

The key ingredient here is yeast. Ingredients like this can cause issues with some people who are sensitive to gluten (a protein found in wheat), but it shouldn’t be an issue for most people — all you need is a little bit of yeast in your diet each day (see “Creating an Adequate Source of Yeast” below).

Along with yeast and flour, use high-quality seeds like sunflower and pumpkin. These work as replacements for rosemary or thyme if you don’t have these herbs on hand, but they won’t be quite as aromatic or flavorful as the real thing.

Step 7 – Cut in half and serve immediately with fries, ketchup or chutney

  • Thread the cucumber, tomato, capsicum and onions into separate skewers.
  • Grill the vegetables on a grill rack or fry on low heat in a non-stick pan till tender. Keep aside.
  • Cut the bread pieces in half horizontally and apply butter generously onto it.
  • On each piece of bread, layer three slices of cheese, spread 1/4 cup of mayonnaise and mustard sauce each, sprinkle oregano, salt and pepper. Also place the grilled vegetable skewers.
  • Place the bread pieces in a preheated sandwich toaster and press down well till crisp.
